  1. Let a medium skillet come up to medium-high temperature.
  2. Whisk an egg in a shallow plate.
  3. Continue to whisk in the butter, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Continue to whisk in sugar, flour, and salt until smooth.
  5. Soak the bread about 35 seconds per side in the mixture.
  6. Melt additional butter in the skillet.
  7. Transfer the bread to the skillet and cook for about 90 seconds per side, or until golden brown.
